Ba, Ba, Baaaaaiiiiiiii....

Our little Nickolas is so smart!!!! Over the past several weeks I have been teaching Nickolas Bailey's name. Of course, Bailey is my chihuahua. Everytime Bailey came in the room I would say to Nickolas, "Look! There's Bailey." Or I would say something like, "Say hello to Bailey, Nickolas". You get the idea. So before you know it, we are asking Nickolas, "Where's Bailey?" and he would look in the floor everytime to try and find him. So because of that progress we would recognize Bailey anytime he was near Nickolas, and Nickolas would just stare at Bailey. Over the past week or two we have noticed Nickolas putting his lips together to make the "B" sound. We would yell for Bailey like this, "Baaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiley!", and Nickolas would say, "Ba, Ba" It was so cute. This past weekend we noticed even MORE improvement! Now Nickolas will say, "Baaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiii..." We were so excited when he started doing this. Just when we thought he was making fabulous improvement, he surprised us all. Tiffany and Wes were at Wes's mom and dad's house on Sunday, and they have 2 little dogs. When they came running in, Nickolas said, "Baaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiii...". How smart is he?!?!?! So he knows that dogs are supposed to be "Bailey". At only 9 and a half months old, you wouldn't think he would pick up on stuff like that. We are so excited and can't wait to teach him something new.....Tonya, perhaps?

Too Tired to Play!

Nickolas was so sleepy the other day when I had him. He was very grouchy. He didn't want me to hold him and he didn't want to watch t.v. He just wanted to be left alone. So that's what I did! I put him in his pack n play and he played for about 30 min. I looked over at him and I thought he was just playing with the blanket, then I looked closer and he was actually sleeping!! It was too cute NOT to take a picture. Mom came in and layed him down finally.

Playing in the Pack N Play!

Mr. Nickolas has outgrown his mini crib. I used to be able to put him in there and he would play with toys for a long time and he would pull up and stand. Well, he gets bored in there very quickly. So, we had to break out the pack n play. There is lots more room in there and very little risk of him getting out (for now). He loves it in there as long as someone is in the room with him. As you can see, he is very close to the windows. He loves to pull on the blinds, so we have to pull them up, or move the pack n play away from the windows. (whew, this baby proofing thing is going to be harder than I thought)

This is classic Nickolas over the past few days. In this picture he is screaming very loudly. He will pull on the side of the pack n play and swing back and forth. The entire pack n play will come off the ground. He is wild!

He is looking at my lens cap hanging down from my camera. You can tell his is thinking about how he is going to get it....

Here he is looking over at me. You can't see it in the picture, but he is reaching with his right arm to try and get my camera. Everytime I try to get a close picture of him, he is reaching for my camera or camera strap.

Screaming...again.

My new favorite picture!!!!

Silly, Sleepy Nickolas

Nickolas was very sleepy and sitting in Nana's lap. You can tell in his eyes that he is tired. He will not keep a hat on at all. So while he was sleepy Nana put one on his head. It still didn't last long, but I was able to grab a picture of it..

9 Months Old Today

Nickolas is 9 months old today!! It is going by oh so fast. (I know I say that almost every time) He is doing more and more each day. Let me start by making this announcement...(I feel a little guilty for not recognizing it before). Nickolas is crawling!!!!!! Finally! He crawled for the first time one week ago when I kept him all night. Luckily, Tiffany was there to see it when it happened. She was dropping him off and we had just put him in the floor to play and he saw a toy that he wanted. So he got on his hands and knees and crawled to get it! We just couldn't believe it. So we played the "move-the-toy-further-away-so-we-can-see-him-crawl" game. We would put stuff out of his reach and keep moving further away and he would crawl to it. Every time we put him down he would improve on his crawling. We are so excited! This means baby proofing the house. We have already purchased the plastic plug ins for the outlets. I know there is much more we need to do. He is starting to visibly recognize mommy and daddy and me! (yay) I took him to see Ruthie and Grandpa when they returned from Arizona. Ruthie was holding him and I walked into the kitchen (out of sight) and he started crying! As soon as I walked back around the corner he would stop. It is a neat feeling to know that he knows who I am. He is such a good baby!! If you are at the table eating, he expects to be there with you. He is eating stage 3 baby food and his doctor said he can eat anything we eat, but he doesn't have any teeth yet!! So he gets mashed potato's, bread etc. Maybe we won't have to wait too long for teeth. He loves to play patty cake and will clap and roll his arms. It is too cute. He likes watching cartoons. And when he is really sleepy he will focus on one object and stare at it. The other day we were at US Cellular at Turkey Creek and Nickolas was sleepy. Well, the woman who worked there would talk to him and he would smile at her....then he just stared at her. It was funny because she wasn't talking to him anymore, but yet his eyes were fixed on her! He was so tired. We all had a pretty good laugh. Is he too young to learn that it is not polite to stare? :-) He is so fun to be around. As I type this I find myself missing him and anticipating when he will come back to my house. He is so addictive! I can't believe he is 9 months old already. His first birthday will be here before we know it!
We took him to get his pictures made again at Portrait Innovations. He was so good!! They did 105 poses. We had to narrow it down to only a few to purchase. Boy, that was hard! They gave us a CD with all the poses, so there are lots of pictures for you to see!
